How To Build a Self-Feeding Fire – Wilderness Survival Skills

July 24, 2010

In this video and article I demonstrate a technique for building a fire structure that will burn continuously and does not require ANY managing. This is a great method to know if you need the heat from a fire while you are sleeping, but do not want to wake up repeatedly during the night to add more wood.

@Ggtriiippy tinder is like pine needles maybe dry leaves. Kindling is abot pebcil sized twigs. Fuel wood is about thumb sized. But fuel wood also includes larger wood about wrist sized

Hey is it only knives with black coatings on the blade that wont work correctly with the magnesium? I have a knife that does notr have a black coating on the blade so would that make the magnesium striking easier?

great video but shouldn’t you have moved the leaves further away from the fire? they looked a little too close to the fire it’s self.

Thanks for the information. FYI: I carry a small hollow tube to use to blow on fires so I don’t ever burn my lips and can get the air into the fire
