How To Fix the Red Ring of Death #1 (Penny Trick)
READ THIS FIRST This is going to permenantly fix your red ring of death, all you need is a T9 screwdriver, electrical tape, silicone base thermal paste, and 4 sets of 2 pennies (8 all together if your not good at math). This has worked on my friend’s xbox for a year and a half now, and mine worked for about a year. If you want more info, send me a message or video response this video. **Update** Yes, you can still use live when you are done, no it will not ban your account. Just make sure you have everything plugged in and try using the xbox without live first to make sure everything is perfect. Then you can plug in live and your xbox is set. **UPDATE** A lot of people are having similar problems. let me tell you how to fix them. Q: Do I have to use thermal paste? A: YES, if you don’t the bonding will melt and destroy your system. ____________________________________ Q:I have 2 red lights, what do I do now? A:2 read lights means overheating. A: Pennies contain copper, a mineral that is very conductive of heat. Being conductive of heat, it will absorb the heat your xbox is putting out and keep it there instead of the chips …

Doent work at all for me >.> The pennies lift up the motherboard and also ground it, giving mine the 3 RRoD. i did the FAQs and fixes in the description and it still has it. i also noticed when putting it back together it puts the motherboard under strain when it has the pennies underneath it. I have an 2007 Elite and this F**ks it up more than its 1 RRoD.

why wouldnt you wrap the pennies with tape then reverse the tap so the sticky is out? wouldnt that make them stay on the chips?

@Capta1nCrnch123 yes! polish the disk with toothpaste. only works for small scratches (not too deep), but it works a charm

The penny trick appears to work. But there is another and BETTER way 2 do it. The red ring of death is caused by the X clamps… When the xbox gets hot, the x clamps bend causing the cpu and gpu to sort of melt, they dont really “melt” but stuf gets on thm, gooie kind of stuff. To fix this is vry simple, posibly evn easier than this penny trick. I have fixed my xbox and many others. The good way to fix it doesnt involve this nonsense. it fixes it for longer too. i got the two red rings and the fan turns off right away so i cant do towel trick. i checked the pennies and even only tried 1 penny wrapped instead of two the second time i tried. i got the same result both times. i cleaned out all of the dust because two rings means overheating i believe. am i fukked?
btw i used this guide before to fix my friends xbox, and it worked perfect for him.
