@hpudgp simply put – in those IVs are parts of the key. longer the key is, you need to collect more IVs, more parts so to speak…

@hpudgp you need more IVs… for a 64bit key you need 35-40 000 IVs, for a 256bit key 90-150 000 IVs

you dont need to burn the image on a DVD, you can simply use VmWare…rotks great… And yeah, Alfa is the best card to do this with

Is downloading the programme and burning it onto a CD really necessary? And if so then why? Can’t you complete that stage without downloading anything, like with nothing but a computer/laptop and your bare hands?

As I tried it there was an error after the “aircrack-ng” command.
It did not show me the key but the command told me but only that he is trieing again with 5000IVs and nothing happens any more.
(When I started the 2nd command “aireplay-ng -1 0 a [...]” the command tells me after trying 10 times to “open system” that the attack was unsuccessful. Can that be the problem?) Thx

@hpudgp as far as i know, feel free to correct me if this is wrong, this hacking technique is based on a flaw in WEP, which enables you to, if you have monitored enough data traffic, to calculate the key based solely on the traffic. that’s what all those packets are good for (again if some1 knows better, feel free to correct me). hope it helps
