How to solve a Rubik’s Cube… Faster
July 22, 2010
In the wake of my Rubik’s Cube tutorials, I have received many requests for advice on how to solve the Rubik’s cube faster. While this video does not teach any new speedsolving technique, it does give some tips on how one can take my method, and make it faster. Songs used in video: “Turn off the idiot box” by The Aquabats “TV Song” by Blue Man Group “Ironhead” by Helmet

What he should be saying is LEARN THE FRIDRICH METHOD. Or LEARN PETRUS, ROUX, or MGLS.

If you are a musician, use slide grease! it doesn’t degrade the plastic like vaseline. Just make sure it is not the kind that is like a thick liquid

at 5:26 when he says there is no shortcut, there is. Look up the “keyhole” method. It makes me much faster at solving the second layer

@MrDinoDork Didn’t know that, interesting (not sarcastically). [f R U R' U' f'] works the same way.

GOOD PRACTICAL JOKE: Mix up 3 stickers on the same corner cubie of a rubik’s cube, scramble it up, then give it to one of your buddies who can also solve a rubik’s cube and tell him/her to solve it. See how long it takes ‘em to to realize that they are trying to solve an unsolvable rubik’s cube!

@Noxboy78 Yep.

Damn you Dan Brown! Your skills intimidate me!
July 22nd, 2010 at 7:48 am
@DeanOfBloons so u mean that its both the outer front and inner front layer?
July 22nd, 2010 at 8:29 am
@Deanofbloons It is even faster if you have a blue L, and you do F U R U’ R’ F’. It will skip the line in the middle and take you straight to the blue cross.

can u make a vid just u solving da cube not a tutorial i wanna see how fast u can go
July 22nd, 2010 at 9:47 am
@Whamesl0l Probably too much. I put too much on mine at first which increased friction, because there is a thick layer of petroleum jelly stopping it from moving smoothly. Just wipe the excess off, if there’s too much.
July 22nd, 2010 at 10:41 am
@DeanOfBloons or instead you can put the “L” in the top left corner and do f R U R’ U’ f’ (for those who don’t know, f instead of F means do turn the front layer and the layer behind it, which is a middle layer)

i used beginer method and my fastest time is 2 minutes!!!!!
July 22nd, 2010 at 12:04 pm
I usually use the same color side every time so I don’t get confused. It’s actually faster for me.

A shortcut for you! Keep One corner of the first face that you have to solve first with a wrong corner! Then, when you try to make the second layer of the other faces, all you have to do is take the “middle piece” (for example, a red and blue cube) put the face in front of you (ex: red) under the the other Colour’s face (ex: the red sticker (let’s say this) of the red and blue cube is under the blue center) Then, facing the blue face (in this example) You do the following moves : L Di or L D
